How it works

From screenshot to text in seconds

Reweal pulls real text out of images. Fast, clean, and without the usual Save to Photos ➡️ Open ➡️ Select All text ➡️ Copy ➡️ Paste circus.

Share an image to Reweal and you will get the text, plus smart actions for the bits you usually tap.

Need clarity? Filter by token type to see everything clearly categorised ⭐.

Copy all tokens in a list ⭐ with 📄, or just tap a link, email, phone number, or date.

QR codes and barcodes are recognised and tokenised just like regular text. In some cases, even more reliably.

Got a stack of images? Select up to 🖼️ 16 images and Reweal them in one go. ⭐

Privacy

Nothing leaves your phone

Offline by design

I dislike when apps ask for internet access without a real reason. While building Reweal, I focused on running everything locally on the device. Modern phones are powerful enough, so there is no need to ship your data anywhere. This also means your data stays yours.

Reweal is 100% on-device. Your images stay on your phone and the text is extracted locally.

  • 📵 No uploads.
  • ✨ No external AI services.
  • ✈️ Works offline. Yes! Even in Airplane Mode.

Reweal does not ask for Photos or Files access. It only processes what you deliberately share to it. No background scanning, no library browsing, no surprises.

The only time it touches the internet is to check subscription status.

Under the hood it uses iOS on-device capabilities. Same idea: your data does not go anywhere.

History stays local

A shelf, not a cloud

History is your local shelf of past Reweals. Think a bookshelf or the pile of papers (with search ⭐), not a cloud account.

When History is on, results are saved locally so you can come back later. When it is off, new Reweals are not saved.

  • 🔌 Turning History off lets you Delete existing items (gone for real).
  • 🙈 Or Hide them (kept locally, just not shown).

And you can always swipe the entry left to delete or eliminate all the history with a tap of a 🗑️ button in settings and confirmation.

Reweal does not keep your original images. History may show a tiny preview so you can recognise an item. Deleting removes that too.

The free tier allows up to 3 recent history items to be shown. For a full history lookback and search you will need a ⭐ subscription.

Sensitive information

Masked by default

We are not always aware how often credit card numbers and other sensitive information appear in screenshots or documents. You might see them in a chat screenshot, or printed on a booking page. That kind of data should be protected and treated carefully. That is why sensitive data masking is turned on by default.

You can turn masking off in settings or at the time sensitive information was first detected.

Keep in mind that full financial token view is a ⭐ feature, so when masked, the full text will have the sensitive information masked.

Keep in mind that text recognition quality can vary, so some sensitive data may not always be detected correctly.

Features

1 to 16 images at once

Batch mode for screenshots

You can Reweal up to 🖼️ 16 images at once.

It is great for receipts, slides, notes, or that long chat screenshot you do not want to handle one by one.

If the result looks messy, crop first ✂️. A tighter image usually wins.

Smart actions and codes

Tap the action. Done.

Reweal highlights useful bits so you can tap them straight away. For more streamlined work, the tokens are categorised ⭐. Copy tokens as a list with 📄 ⭐, or just

  • 🔗 Open a link
  • ✉️ Compose an email
  • 💬 Message or 📞 call a number
  • 📅 Add a date to calendar (usually with context added as an event description)

and copy or share with contextual menus.

Sometimes there are QR codes or other barcodes. Not a problem for Reweal. They are recognised and tokenised just like regular text. In some cases, even more reliably.

Heads up: token detection is good, but not perfect. Sometimes it misses things or reads them slightly wrong. Especially with blurry images, weird fonts and handwriting, or busy backgrounds.

If something looks important, double-check before you act. We keep improving the algorithms, and updates should steadily make this smarter.

What is Pro

And do you need it

Pro unlocks the full Reweal workflow: bigger batches, more actions, fewer limits.

Everything still stays on-device. You are not paying for uploads - you are paying for what the app can do.

  • 🖼️ Batch up to 16 images in one go.
  • 📋 See the full set of detected tokens (not just the first one).
  • 📄 Copy more, faster (including whole results when available).
  • 🙈 Improved masking for financial information: sensitive data stays hidden by default and can be revealed per token when needed.
  • 🕒 Use History like an archive: revisit and search past Reweals.

If you use Reweal a lot, Pro pays for itself in saved time. If you only need it occasionally, weekly access is a nice way to get the full power without committing.

Troubleshooting

Safety and accuracy

Please double-check before acting

Reweal extracts text and surfaces tappable actions. It does not verify that the recognised text is correct or that a link is safe.

  • ✅ Treat recognised text as a draft. If it matters, check it.
  • 🔗 Be careful with links. Anyone can print a URL that looks legit.
  • 💳 For payments, tickets, and account details: verify before you copy, share, or pay.

To the extent permitted by law, Reweal is provided as-is. We are not responsible for losses caused by clicking a link, relying on incorrect recognition, or using extracted text without verification.

Result looks wrong

Make the image easier

If the result looks off, it is usually the image: blur, glare, tiny text, or a busy background.

  • ✂️ Crop tighter to what matters.
  • ☀️ Better lighting helps a lot.
  • 🔤 The bigger the better.

Quick trick: take a screenshot of the image, then Reweal the screenshot. No idea why, but it sometimes helps. OCR can be weird like that.

App feels slow

Usually heat or something not under Reweal’s control

On-device means your phone does the work. Most of the time it is quick. Sometimes the device is hot, busy, or both.

  • 🖼️ Try fewer images first (1 to 4 is the sweet spot).
  • 🔄 Close heavy apps and relaunch Reweal.
  • 🌡️ If the device is hot, give it a minute to cool down.
  • 🔋 Check if you’re in a Power Safe mode. It may slow down the overall device performance.

If it is still slow, email support with your device model and roughly how many images you used. That is usually enough to reproduce it.

Talk to a human

Bugs, ideas, edge cases

If something feels off, tell me. If you have an idea that would make the app sharper, tell me that too.

The best reports are short: what you did, what you expected, what you got instead. If it involved multiple images, mention how many.
